Upcoming Changes to YouthCenter Login

We’re making a small but important update to the YouthCenter login experience. The change is designed to improve security and lay the groundwork for additional authentication options, and we want to make sure you know what to expect before it rolls out. This change is expected to go out in mid to late March.

What’s Changing?

Currently, when you log in to YouthCenter, you enter your username and password together on a single screen. With the upcoming update, the login process will become two steps:

Step 1: Enter your username or email address, then click Continue.

Step 2: Enter your password (or passkey, if your site supports it) and click Continue.

That’s it! The change is intentionally simple, just an extra click as part of a slightly reorganized login flow.

New Process

Here’s what it’s going to look like:

Once you submit your username or email address, you’ll be taken to the password page.

Why Are We Making This Change?

The two-step login flow is a widely adopted standard that improves security and enables more flexible authentication options going forward. By separating the username and password steps, YouthCenter can more intelligently route each user to the right authentication method for their account, whether that’s a password, passkey, biometric, or another option in the future.

What About Passkeys?

Passkey support is being introduced as part of this update, but it won’t be available to everyone right away. Passkeys will only be enabled for sites that have a specific contract in place for this feature.

If your site does not have passkeys enabled, you won’t see any passkey-related options, just the familiar password field on the second step of login.

Passkeys are a modern, passwordless authentication method supported by most devices and browsers. They offer a faster and more secure way to log in. If you’re interested in enabling passkey support for your site, reach out to your account representative to learn more.

What Do You Need to Do?

Nothing! No action is required on your part. Your username and password remain the same. You’ll simply notice an extra step the next time you log in. The process is still quick and straightforward.

What about Federated Login Users?

Federated log-in users will be unaffected by this change. They will continue to simply press the Login with Microsoft (Or one of the many other federated login options we support), and then log in with their approved login provider.
